![]() ![]() I'm having a bit of trouble reading the headers for the maps in iclint's post above. I need to spend some time educating myself more on how to read those maps. I'll wait and see if this comes to fruition next year before I will consider having a reflash. So if you spent $$ on a reflash, you probably won't want to have it swapped out. The catch is that they will swap out your ECU with a new one. She has talked to a factor engineer that is investigating this and says they are aware of the hard start problem and the 2016 ECU's already have the new program and sometime after the first of the year, there will be a reflash offered with the same program. She got a new 2016 bike free and they sent her old bike back to the factory. Of course, I have read on this forum that anybody that has a hard start is an idiot and if that is the case, a new ECU won't be able to cure that.īrick, read the thread by the lady from Hawaii whose 2012 S10 caught on fire after a hard start episode. ![]() Then I can treat it like I do all my other fuel injected machines, both 2 and 4 wheel, if I want to start them up and run them out to the driveway and shut them off, I can do that without worrying if they will start again. If it turns out they are going to address this, I will take advantage of it. I have also seen this twice with a pre owned unit at my dealer's where people have given the bike a short start to hear what it sounds like and then shut it off and then the next time someone wants to take it out for a demo ride, it is flooded. I only had it once on my 12 in 34,000 miles and never on my 14 with 18,000 miles, but after that first time, I have been aware that if I start it, I will make sure it is warmed up and at normal idle and temp before shutting it off. Doesn't happen all the time for sure, but it can and does happen. It is said to be addressing problem that many have experienced where the bike is shut down while still in the cold start mode and then the next time you try to start it, it may have an over rich flooded condition and won't start. Jeff, Of course they will be subject to the same emissions regs, but this is not addressing the 1, 2, 3 gear restrictions. It is not a night and day change but it does make the bike feel like it ate its Wheaties! I think its money well spent on improving the S10's performance.Ĭlick to expand.Brick, read the thread by the lady from Hawaii whose 2012 S10 caught on fire after a hard start episode. Mid corner performance is improved as the bike doesn't bobble on the throttle. It feels like the reflash has enabled the engine to spin up freer. Roll on performance is much improved so passing is easier. In sport mode the bike feels like it wants to go now. The net result is a smoother throttle especially in transitions between on and off the gas. They also optimize the tuning for better performance. ![]() They take out all the restrictions that are required by the EPA and probably Yamaha's liability department. What you will get is a much better performing S10. If you're expecting the reflash to turn your bike into an R1 its not going to happen. Flash Tune charges $200 for the Standard reflash and it was well worth it. That's totally on me Anthony was as accommodating as possible. The reason I ended up with FlashTune instead of Anthony is because of some health issues I was never able to coordinate getting the ECU to him. I sent my EU to FlashTune and had their Standard Flashing Service for slip on muffler done. I mentioned having my '14ES ECU reflashed in another thread and a couple of members asked for a review.
